Electrician Brunswick
One postcode, every kind of building.
Single-fronted terraces, converted factories, apartments over shopfronts and a cafe every hundred metres, often in the same street. We work across all of it, from a base ten minutes up Sydney Road in Coburg.

Two of these have a page of their own.
Switchboards and rental safety checks are what Brunswick rings us about most, so each one has been written out properly rather than squeezed into a paragraph here.
Ceramic fuses out, safety switches in on every circuit, room left on the board for what comes next. Full page, including what it involves on the day.
02 Rental safety checksRequired every two years in Victoria. Full page, covering the dates, what gets checked, and how we work through a rent roll rather than one property at a time.
03 Faults and emergenciesNo power, a breaker that will not stay in, or a hot smell at the board. Calls taken around the clock.
04 Cafe, bar and shop fit-outsHospitality is half of Brunswick's commercial work. Staged around trading hours so you are not shut any longer than the job actually needs.
05 Renovations and conversionsTerrace extensions and warehouse conversions, where the existing circuits were never designed for the rooms now sitting on them.
06 Lighting, power and fansExtra points, downlights, track and feature lighting, outdoor and courtyard lighting, ceiling and exhaust fans.
07 EV charger installationHome chargers installed and tested. On a Brunswick terrace the harder half is usually the supply and the board, not the charger.
08 Data and TV cablingHard-wired points for studios, home offices and shopfronts. Double brick and rendered warehouse walls are why the wi-fi dies out the back.
Warehouses, studios and shopfronts
Wiring that never matched the building.
Brunswick was factories and mills long before it was apartments, and a lot of that stock is still standing with a different use bolted into it. A textile floor becomes six studios. A workshop becomes a house with a mezzanine. A shop becomes a bar.
The wiring rarely gets the same treatment as the walls. What we find is industrial-era supply feeding domestic rooms, a board that grew by one circuit per fit-out, surface conduit added in three different decades, and lighting circuits carrying loads nobody sized for.
None of that is dangerous by itself. It becomes a problem when the next tenant, the next kitchen or the next EV charger asks the installation for something it has never been asked for.
- Boards with no spare ways left
- Whole floors on a single RCD
- Sub-boards fed from the wrong place
- Three-phase supply, single-phase board
- Surface conduit from three different fit-outs
- Lighting circuits carrying power points
- No labelling worth reading
- Original cabling behind new plaster

Around the suburb
Brunswick, Brunswick East and Brunswick West.
Three postcodes, three different jobs. It is worth saying which is which, because the work is genuinely not the same.
Sydney Road and the shops off it
The strip runs the length of the suburb and it is almost entirely small operators, so the clock matters more than it does on a domestic job. A venue that cannot open is losing money by the hour, and a fit-out that runs an extra day costs more than the extra day.
We work the noisy and power-off parts around opening rather than through service, and stage the job so the front of house can keep going where the work allows it. That covers new fit-outs, refits, exit and emergency lighting, three-phase for kitchen equipment, and the board work that usually sits underneath the lot.
Brunswick East, Lygon Street and the converted stock
East of Nicholson Street is where most of the conversions are, and where the interesting problems live. A building that was one supply and one use is now four tenancies with four kitchens, and the installation is still shaped like the original.
Work here tends to start as one thing and turn into a board conversation. We would rather have that conversation before the plasterer arrives than after, so if you are planning a conversion, ring while it is still a drawing.
Brunswick West and the residential streets
Quieter, more single-fronted and double-fronted houses, more original wiring still in service. This is where the standard inner north job list turns up: an old board with rewirable fuses, a kitchen renovation the circuits were never built for, a bathroom with no exhaust, and an outdoor area with one weathered point doing the work of four.
Renters, landlords and agents
A large share of Brunswick is rented, which changes who rings. Half our calls here come from agents and owners rather than the person living in the property, so we deal with tenants directly for access, keep the records straight, and send the paperwork through without the office having to chase it.
If you manage more than a couple of properties, the rental safety check page is the one to read. It covers the two-year cycle and how we batch a run.
Getting here
We are based in Coburg, one suburb north. For Brunswick that means most work is a short drive rather than a trip across town, which matters most on the jobs nobody plans for: a fault on a Friday, a board that has started buzzing, a tenant with no power in half the property.

Common questions
Before you ring.
The two big topics have their own pages. These are the ones that come up either side of them.
Do you actually work in Brunswick, or just list it?
We work in it. We are based one suburb north in Coburg, and Brunswick is one of the two postcodes we are in most weeks.
Are you licensed?
Yes. REC 35681. Every job that needs a certificate of electrical safety gets one, and it is not an extra line on the invoice.
Can you work on a warehouse conversion?
Yes, and the earlier the better. Conversions almost always need the supply and the board looked at, and finding that out after the walls are lined is what makes it expensive.
Do you do three-phase and commercial kitchen work?
Yes. Three-phase supply, kitchen equipment, cool rooms, exit and emergency lighting, and the sub-board work that goes with a hospitality fit-out.
Can you quote before starting?
Yes, and you get the number before any work begins. On fault finding you get the cost of the diagnosis up front, then the cost of the repair once we know what it actually is.
How old is too old for a switchboard?
Age is not really the test, protection is. If there are rewirable ceramic fuses, or no safety switch on the power circuits, that is worth looking at regardless of the year. The switchboard page goes through it properly.
Do you take on whole rent rolls?
Yes. Send the list of addresses and we will work out the run and deal with the tenants directly. Detail is on the rental safety check page.
Do you cover the suburbs around Brunswick?
We do. Coburg, Preston, Fitzroy, Northcote, Pascoe Vale and Thornbury all get the same turnaround.
Past the inner north we work through Melbourne's northern and eastern suburbs, and we take renovation and commercial fit-out work right across the metro area.
Not sure whether you are in range? Ring and ask. It is a thirty second phone call and we will tell you straight either way.
